Student Club Activities
Mathematical Society
The Moravian Mathematical Society hosts several events:
- Weekly SnL and epsilon-talks: SnL (snacks-n-laughs) happens every week. Cookies, chips, and drinks are accompanied by a short (15 minute) talk about some tid-bit of mathematics. Some past topics are the Möbius strip, computer artwork using trigonometic inequalities, and an introduction to mathematical games. Be sure to check the calendar for upcoming talks.
- Every semester, the mathematical society hosts a special trip. Past trips have included watching the play Proof and exploring the cryptography museum at the NSA. For more about the next planned event, visit the Mathematical Society section of the Students page.
Association for Computing Machinery (ACM)
Moravian College's chapter of the ACM hosts regular activities throughout the semester, including:
- Every other week, ACM hosts Cheesesteak Night at Starters' Pub. All interested meet in the computer science lab (PPHAC 114) around 8:40pm for $2 cheesesteak sandwiches.
- In prepartation for the CCSC and the ACM programming competitions, the local ACM group hosts weekly programming workshops. Contact Ben Coleman for more information. We have been quite successful: our 2005 team won both competitions.
- Every year, Moravian's chapter of ACM hosts a Linux Install fest for all who are considering installing Linux or just interested in learning more about an alternate OS than Windows.
Mathematical Honors Society (PME)
The Moravian chapter of PME hosts the annual Moravian Student Mathematics Conference. The 21st annual conference will be held on February 17, 2007. Be sure to vist the conference web pagefor more information.
